Governance Bodies & Terms of Reference

1. Board of Governors (Supervisory Board)

The Board of Governors exercises fiduciary, legal, and strategic oversight over the group. It is responsible for institutional solvency, compliance with Swiss corporate and cantonal regulations, and safeguarding the long-term institutional mission.

2. Academic Advisory Senate (AAS)

The Academic Advisory Senate is the sovereign academic authority for Brookfield Group. Composed of senior academics, international visiting professors, and industry experts, the AAS:

  • Approves all new degree curricula and major syllabus revisions.
  • Sets academic standards, grading criteria, and credit allocation benchmarks.
  • Reviews and authorizes external examiner reports and academic audit findings.
  • Safeguards academic independence and scholarly freedom across all teaching faculties.

3. School Faculty Councils (BBS · BSC · BSHS)

Each constituent school maintains an autonomous Faculty Council headed by the respective Academic Dean. Faculty Councils oversee day-to-day curriculum delivery, student assessment moderation, faculty appointments, and pedagogical development.

4. Institutional Ethics & Academic Review Committee

An independent committee reporting directly to the AAS, responsible for:

  • Enforcing academic integrity, anti-plagiarism, and research ethics protocols.
  • Reviewing conflicts of interest and ensuring transparent institutional admissions.
  • Investigating academic appeals, disciplinary matters, and student grievances.

Separation of Academic and Commercial Functions

To ensure that academic integrity is never compromised by financial or commercial considerations, Brookfield Group enforces a strict operational separation:

  • Admissions eligibility decisions and degree awarding approvals are made exclusively by academic faculty committees.
  • No commercial officer or administrative representative possesses the authority to alter entry requirements, grade outcomes, or graduation eligibility.
