Applied Research Agenda

Our research strategy prioritizes actionable, evidence-informed inquiry across three core faculty clusters:

1. Sustainable Management, FinTech & Governance (BBS)

  • Digital corporate governance, fiduciary responsibility, and ESG reporting standards.
  • Decentralized finance, blockchain compliance, and cross-border regulatory arbitrage.
  • Strategic business transformation in European and emerging international markets.

2. Computational Intelligence, Trust & Digital Security (BSC)

  • Applied machine learning in high-stakes enterprise systems.
  • Zero-trust cybersecurity architectures, cryptographic protocols, and privacy-preserving data analytics.
  • Ethical frameworks and algorithmic governance for autonomous systems.

3. Health Systems Leadership, Patient Safety & Clinical Epidemiology (BSHS)

  • Healthcare quality indicators, patient safety culture, and JCI accreditation metrics.
  • Health informatics, predictive clinical data analytics, and digital health adoption.
  • Continuing clinician education methodologies and evidence-based clinical protocols.

Doctoral Research Center (DBA & Applied Doctorates)

The Doctoral Research Center coordinates executive doctoral dissertations across BBS and BSC:

  • Candidates are senior industry executives and experienced managers conducting empirical, organizational research.
  • Every dissertation undergoes a rigorous three-stage defense: research proposal defense, methodological review, and final viva voce examination before an international faculty jury.
  • Completed dissertations are deposited in the Brookfield Group Academic Research Repository to contribute to global management knowledge.

Research Ethics & Human Subjects Oversight

All empirical research involving human participants, patient data, or commercial organizational studies must receive prior written approval from the Brookfield Institutional Research Ethics Board (IREB). IREB strictly upholds the Declaration of Helsinki, European research integrity standards, and Swiss data protection legislation.
